Derek Mohar

Derek is the founder of Mohar Financial Planning.  He started his advisory business to provide simple, understandable financial advice to the individuals he encountered who seemed overwhelmed by the financial options they had in front of them. 

 

Derek studied biology and chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  After graduation Derek served as an officer in the US Navy for 4 years. After serving in the Navy, Derek spent 19 years at Capital One in working on Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Product Development.  As an executive at Capital One, Derek worked in Richmond, Northern Virginia, and Boise, ID.

 

Derek lives in Goochland, VA with his wife Michele and 2 children.
